Opportunity for ATLIS community

From Dr. Beth Holland:

At The Learning Accelerator, we have partnered with Gradient Learning to understand what leadership conditions and structures best support how classrooms implement their digital reflection tool, Along – a resource that aims to build meaningful 1:1 teacher-student connections through the exchange of video, audio, and text messages. (Discover more about how Along works here.)

The Opportunity: We are seeking schools who are interested in piloting Along for at least 12 weeks starting in January or early February at no cost to them. Schools can pilot Along in any classroom in grades 4-12. As a result of participation, schools will receive:

  • Training and Implementation Support: Along staff will provide trainings, resources, and other supports.

  • Stipends: Teachers, school leaders, and coordinators (i.e., tech department staff) who participate in the pilot will receive stipends.

Pilot Expectations:

  • School leaders will be responsible for:

    • Recruiting pilot teachers from grades 4-12;

    • Coordinating with Along staff to develop an implementation plan;

    • Supporting data collection – including but not limited to – facilitating the signing of a data-sharing agreement between Along, The Learning Accelerator, and the school system;

    • Participating in focus groups and recruiting teachers to participate in focus groups;

    • Developing structures to encourage teachers to engage with their students through Along; and

    • Supporting teachers with disseminating student surveys.

  • Pilot teachers will be responsible for:

    • Completing surveys before implementation, midway through implementation, and after implementation (approximately 15-20 minutes per survey);

    • Implementing Along in their classroom at least once a week for at least 12 weeks. Along suggests teachers use the tool for 30 minutes per week but this may vary;

    • Participating in at least one focus group (approximately 30 minutes);

    • Logging their work and reflections; and

    • Administering student surveys.

Schools will have the opportunity to continue to use Along for free after the end of the pilot. The Learning Accelerator will make all findings freely and publicly available.

We are hoping that you could please share this opportunity with ATLIS members before the end of the year. Please let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
