  • 1.  Swank & AirPlay - Workaround or Other Options?

    Hello All, 

    Recently, our teachers using Swank are not able to see the videos when they AirPlay their Macbook to the Apple TV. They can hear the audio, but the video doesn't show. When we talked to Swank, we hit a wall because they are aware of the issue but they don't support AirPlay. I am curious if anyone has a workaround OR other ideas for showing videos in class. 

    We also have our own Plex, so that is an option but the library of material is not as vast. It is also not something that can be assigned or watched on a student's device.  The large library and ability to assign it outside of class are the two main reasons our teachers like Swank. 

    Any advice you have is greatly appreciated.

    I have seen this issue mostly when using Safari. What we found is that instead of using the AirPlay (Screen Mirroring) option from the menu bar, on the computer used to view the Swank video, in the video itself is an AirPlay icon. If you use that, it has not had an issue for us.

    We have been using Swank with AirPlay for a couple of years. It works great. I am using AirPlay with Swank right now.

    Hi All,
    Older thread here, but related to an issue we're still wrestling with, namely streaming choppiness over Apple TV (anyone working through/ solved this issue and willing to share?), but wanted to say, to this point of Swank not presenting video via ATV, try disabling hardware acceleration, if using Chrome, which solved some related issues for us.

    We're seeing issues streaming from multiple platforms to the Apple TV, and all seem to be related to streaming from the MacBook. Streaming from the iPad appears to be unaffected.

    One other thing that can help is hardwiring your AppleTVs on the network. Having a hardwire will reduce the reliance on wifi.
