    Hello, I am interested in gaining feedback from those whose campus has a broadcasting class. Our upper school has a broadcasting class that primarily focuses on streaming sports games on campus: basketball, baseball, softball, football, and volleyball. The system's current design works out of a trailer with its own network and no integration with the campus's leading network. The class wants to eliminate the trailer and bring everything fully in-house and has asked to use the existing network. We like the separation and would like to gain feedback from others whose broadcasting class live streams sports.

    Bringing it in house, now your firewalls have to work twice as hard as your streams are both exiting and entering the school.  Sometimes this can cause issues if you are not using an outside based reflector (example: youtube) for the broadcast stream source.  If you are just using the campus network itself as the public source of the stream, the on-campus listening devices would want try to resolve to internal ip addresses instead of external public addresses.  Creates a mess in my opinion.

    We stream sports, mass, and some theater events.  I have them on a separate VLAN.  I don't want them on the main network with classrooms for many reasons including security.
