    Greetings ATLIS community,

Our school is in the beginning stages of moving towards standards-based grading (i.e. creating curriculum maps, training, etc).  We are at the point where we need to determine a gradebook to use that plays nicely with this type of grading (i.e. includes learning outcomes, mastering grading, etc.)  We currently use Canvas as out LMS.  I looked into Mastery Connect so far.  Does anyone have any thoughts about Mastery Connect or some other alternatives out there.  I am new to my role this year, so I appreciate any feedback the community has to offer.

    All the best!

    Hi Joe.

    My two cents....

In the past I have designed Canvas departmental/grade-level "courses" as living curriculum maps which can be shared, reviewed and updated regularly.

Do you have a campus focus group working on the assessment piece? I have not used Mastery Connect but I would request a sandbox from Instructure and put it through its paces by your teachers. I would also suggest requesting info from Canvas as they have an extensive list of LTIs including gradebooks, if it turns out Mastery Connect does not meet your needs.

    I hope this is helpful.

Thanks so much for the feedback!  I like the idea of creating courses.  We are not working on assessments specifically yet.  A small group of teachers are getting some curriculum training so that they can create maps for their specific discipline.  Assessments are part of that, however, that is not the main focus just yet.

I reached out to instructure and they no longer create sandbox courses.

I was thinking about an LTI supported gradebook option.  I need to do some research on options other than MC.
