What are the cybersecurity essentials that you will share with faculty/staff (new or current) as part of onboarding or back-to-school training?

We just purchased a subscription to KnowBe4 and pushed a baseline phishing campaign.  On the first day of pre-planning, I shared some statistics about the rise of cyberattacks on K12 schools, the cost of those attacks, the types of data compromised on students, and I drove home the fact that with PID information leaked about students, they could become victims of identity fraud before they are even adults. Then I shared the results of our baseline fishing test (how phish-prone we are) and shared our goal for a year from now. I showed an episode of Inside Man and explained that we would be on a schedule of regular cyber awareness training for the year.

    +1 for KnowBe4

We handled our roll out similarly to Tina and The Heritage School. We are coming up on our 1 year anniversary with KnowBe4 and statistically we are pleased with the response from our faculty and staff. We still get two or three clicks every two weeks, but it's not always the same people. The "phishing" messages re: COVID appear to be the ones most people fall for.

At the beginning we were inundated with Help Desk tickets questioning/reporting the emails. That took some more retraining until people learned how to vet the messages themselves. Now they just hit the delete button.
