  • 1.  Any schools using ADP for the hiring and application process? Regardless, what is your process?

Does your school use ADP for the hiring and application process? If not, what is your process like?

In a recent conversation with my CFO, there was the question of moving to use ADP for the hiring process. That ADP would handle the work associated with the job posting, interview, and application - essentially, the entire hiring process.  Once the contract was issued and signed, they could start work on the benefits and other related pieces, after which the employee's data could be entered into the other school-related systems.

The belief is that many schools are going in this direction and that using ADP makes the process of working with placement agencies, like Carney Sandoe and others, easier and improved the onboarding process.

I would like to understand if this is the direction other schools are going. If not, what does your process look like? As a bonus question... if your school is using Veracross what does this look like?

    Bill,

We just went through this process using https://www.isolvedhcm.com .  The application pulled info from a variety of job boards and also Carney and others. Next step is to have it go into payroll...once they are hired.  In reality, it hasn't helped with onboarding from my end just yet because there is different info one can ask a candidate versus a newly hired employee.

We have been using ADP for payroll/benefits/HR for a little over 5 years. We also use it to distribute employment contracts for signing, and keep track of any employee requirements (background checks, Safe Schools training, etc). Regarding the hiring process, yes it does work well for posting job applications and then once you make the hire, all their info is already right there in ADP so you can just convert them to a new employee instead of an applicant. Where things get a little complicated is in the interview process where you have multiple people who need to get in to ADP to evaluate the candidate and look at their credentials. We have tried to work with that process but it requires a fair bit of training for fac/staff who are doing the hiring, and they may think the ADP process is overly complicated (they may be right!). The pandemic sort of got in the way and we never went back to it. But at least when we hire the person, all their data is in ADP already from having made the application so you save some time that way. We have a new HR director who is very savvy with ADP so I am hoping to see more utilization of the system especially for evaluation of candidates. Regarding Veracross, I wish there was some ability to port new employee data directly into VC (especially including emergency contact info). That's another area we are looking at. We did setup an SSO from Office 365 to ADP so the system is secured with MFA on our end. There was some customization work that ADP had to do to make it happen and it took a while to find the right person at ADP who knew how to implement it. I hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions!
